Penrith City Council Donations Policy

Donations to Amateur Sportspersons and Representatives in the fields of Art, Music, Culture - Interstate and Overseas Travel

Here is a copy of Penrith City Council's Policy 2.2.10 which relates to "Donations to Amateur Sportspersons and Representatives in the fields of Art, Music, Culture - Interstate and Overseas Travel"

The policy states:

This policy only applies to amateur sportspersons and representatives in the fields of Art, Music, Culture for the purpose of encouraging participation in international or interstate events by residents or by members of clubs based in the City of Penrith or students of schools and educational establishments within the Penrith City area and who are representing the country of Australia or the State of New South Wales, a contribution towards travelling expenses will be made on the following basis -

a)Interstate Events

$100.00 Queensland and Victoria

$150.00 South Australia and Tasmania

$200.00 Western Australia, Northern Territory and New Zealand

$300.00 Overseas Events

b) Contributions be paid a donations under Section 356(1) of the Local Government Act (1993) to institutions, associations or clubs etc which are not conducted for private gain. Individual requests for financial assistance are to be supported by a submission from the organisation to which the participant is a member confirming that the applicant has been selected as a representative. Applicants are restricted to one donation per 12 month period.

c) The Facilities Operations Manager and in his absence, the Director of City Operations, be delegated authority to approve and refuse requests for contributions towards travelling expenses.

d) Requirements for contributions, and the extent of contributions, may be varied by Council where circumstances warrant special consideration.

e) Written applications for financial assistance must be made prior to the event being held.

f)Provision of financial assistance be contingent on the availability of funds.
